Autologous Fat Transfer (Lipofilling)

Autologous fat transfer is a tissue-plumping procedure in which fat taken by syringe from areas such as the tummy or hips is injected into another area. This procedure replaces or builds up the layer of fat just beneath the skin, providing structure to the face.

Prior to injection, the extracted fat is purified by centrifuge or by rinsing it with a protein solution that coats and protects the fat cells. This technique makes fat cells healthier and more likely to survive longer than cells not exposed to the solution. It is then injected little by little at strategic intervals at the surface and deeper into the dermis. Autologous fat transfer is used to address a prematurely aged appearance of the cheeks, cheekbones and lip area, with exceptional results.
