Forehead and Eyebrow Lifts Print E-mail

A forehead and eyebrow lift restores a more youthful, refreshed, alert look to the area above the eyes for both men and women. The result: a smoother forehead and a friendlier appearance. This procedure:

  • Lifts sagging eyebrows that create a “hound dog” look
  • Corrects hooding of the upper eyelids
  • Opens eyes that appear smaller as the brow settles
  • Diminishes horizontal lines and furrows across the forehead and above the nose
  • Lifts low, heavy brow
  • Smoothes skin with “crow's”s feet”

Which technique to use—peritrichial face and brow lift or endoscopic forehead/brow lift—is determined by assessing facial balance, including position of the eyebrows, amount of excess upper eyelid skin, height of the hairlines and forehead height. During either procedure, Dr. Geroulis alters the forehead muscles and underlying tissues that cause furrowing or drooping to minimize forehead frown lines and lift fallen eyebrows. In a peritrichial face and brow lift, excess skin may also be removed.

In an endoscopic forehead/brow lift, an endoscope (a long, slender viewing instrument) is inserted in tiny incisions in the scalp to allow the surgeon to view magnified images of internal structures. Incisions in the scalp are placed so they cannot be seen. No hair is cut or shaved.

This technique can accurately target specific areas of the face, including the lateral brow and crow's-feet area. A highly-skilled surgeon with artistic experience can control the degree of pull of the skin and the position of the eyebrows. This phase is vital to a natural appearance: eyebrows are slightly repositioned to their original site; the forehead is smoother; severe lines are softened; and the upper two-thirds of the face appear refreshed and more youthful.

Tissue Glue Technique

A breakthrough in facial rejuvenation is the tissue glue technique, used with various facelift procedures.

This approach uses a high-tech, medically designed, liquid tissue sealant developed specifically for bonding tissue. This highly innovative, specialized material is applied along an incision, resulting in minimal discomfort and less bruising and swelling than when sutures are used. The glue eventually dissolves. Recovery time is cut in half and results last longer.
