The appearance of reduced bone structure or a weakened jaw line can cause imbalances in facial appearance. Irregularities due to genetic disposition, signs of aging or a desire to enhance and bolster the existing skeletal framework can be resolved using facial implants that can improve the attractiveness of the face.
A weakly defined chin can upset the symmetry of the face and affect its overall appearance. Facial chin implants or repositioning of the jawbone can augment a small, recessive chin to enhance its projection. Implants can enhance chin prominence and contour, bringing better balance, proportion and harmony to the facial features of both men and women. Building up a small chin will draw attention away from a prominent nose and bring overall balance to the face. It can improve the reconfiguration of the jaw-neck line to effectively reduce a double chin when performed in conjunction with a facelift. Chin correction may also be performed in combination with nasal correction. These combined procedures, referred to as Profiloplasty, can result in a dramatic improvement to the profile of the face, shaping both the nose and chin and bringing improved balance to the face.
Facial implants may also be used to fill sunken areas of the face, bringing fullness to the area and decreasing the folds and wrinkles around the mouth. The mid-face area is the first to sag or drop in the aging process, appearing sunken or tired, fostering a prematurely aged appearance. Cheek implants can bring a fuller, balanced look to the face.
When chin, jaw or cheek implants are placed in combination with other surgical procedures, such as a Neck/Lift or Facelift, the medical-grade implant may be inserted through the incisions made for those procedures. Otherwise, a discrete incision is made inside the mouth or in the skin just under the chin area. A small opening is formed in which the specifically designed implant is placed.
