Facial Implants (Chin, Jaw, Cheeks) |
|
|
|
Reduced bone
structure or a weakened jawline may cause imbalance in facial appearance. Implants
can improve irregularities due to heredity or aging and enhance the existing
skeletal framework.
Keep Your Chin Up
A weakly-defined
chin can upset the symmetry of the face and affect overall appearance. Chin implants
or repositioning the jawbone can enhance the chin’s contour,
bringing better balance and proportion to the face. Building up a small chin
will draw attention from a prominent nose. In conjunction with a facelift, a
chin implant can reduce a double chin. Chin and nasal correction may also be
performed together. These combined procedures (profiloplasty) can result in dramatic
improvement to the profile, shaping both the nose and chin and bringing
improved balance to the face.
The mid-face
is the first to drop in the aging process,
appearing sunken or tired. Implants may
be used to fill sunken areas, adding fullness, and decreasing folds and
wrinkles around the mouth. Cheek implants can bring a fuller, balanced look to
the face.
When chin,
jaw or cheek implants are placed in combination with other surgical procedures,
such as a neck lift or facelift, they may be inserted through the incisions
made for those procedures. Otherwise, an unobtrusive incision is made inside the
mouth or in the skin just under the chin. A small opening is formed in which
the customized implant is placed.
