Dr. Geroulis is strongly committed to both the artistic and scientific world. As an accomplished sculptor, having received an award from the New York Museum of Art, Dr. Geroulis strives to achieve "natural" surgical improvements in facial and body rejuvenation, using the integration of artistry, science and surgical skill to produce unique results for each individual.
Dr. Geroulis is a 1973 graduate of the Chicago Medical School in Chicago, Illinois. His credentials include training in general surgery at the University of Chicago, followed by further training in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery. At the University of Chicago, he has gained extensive experience in the anatomy and structure of the face. Dr. Geroulis is one of a select number of few plastic cosmetic surgeons in the country who has trained exclusively with the noted cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Richard Webster, considered the pioneer and founding father of cosmetic surgery in the United States.
In 1977, Dr. Geroulis founded the North Shore Center for Facial Plastic & Cosmetic SurgeryTM in Evanston and Chicago. He became a faculty member and instructor at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center in Chicago, and was appointed as Head of the Section of Otolaryngology for the City of Chicago's Board of Health. In the mid 1990s, Dr. Geroulis expanded his private practice, relocating the North Shore Center for Facial Plastic & Cosmetic SurgeryTM from Wilmette to Northfield, Illinois. His practice has grown to include patients from all walks of life, including physicians and surgeons, politicians, actors, news media personnel, celebrities and other dignitaries from around the country and around the world.
In the early 1990s, Dr. Geroulis was appointed Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Chicago and the University of Chicago Hospitals, reported recently in U.S News & World Report, as one of the best hospitals in the United States*. In 1999, he acquired full Clinical Professorship status in the Department of Surgery, where he continues to be active in performing surgery and training doctors and surgeons.
In conjunction with the University of Chicago, Dr. Geroulis organizes and directs international advanced workshops on cosmetic surgical techniques and breakthroughs, providing teaching and training to practicing surgeons and physicians from around the world. Also in conjunction with the University of Chicago, Dr. Geroulis directs the Fellowship Program in Facial Plastic Surgery, considered one of the most specialized postgraduate training programs in the country.
In addition to his teaching activities, Dr. Geroulis continues to give an extensive number of visiting professor lectures at national and international conferences, symposia and scientific sessions and most recently at the 23rd Congress of the French Society of Aesthetic Surgery, where he was named as honorary member. He is also regularly called upon to instruct other surgeons on his techniques in cosmetic surgery at the North Shore Center for Facial Plastic & Cosmetic SurgeryTM and private clinics in Europe.
Recently appointed as a Life Member of the University of Chicago Surgical Society, Dr. Geroulis is an active member in over 13 professional societies and associations nationally and internationally, including the University of Chicago Surgical Society, Chicago Medical Society, the Illinois Medical Society, the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, the International Society of Cosmetic Surgery and the International College of Surgeons. He is an honorary member of the French Society of Aesthetic Surgery and is Fellow of the American Society of Cosmetic Breast Surgery.
Dr. Geroulis is also member of professional organizations, such as the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (A.A.C.S.), which is the largest interdisciplinary medical organization in the United States exclusively devoted to cosmetic surgery. Its members are dedicated to advancing the art and science of cosmetic surgery and promoting the highest standards of patient welfare and surgical excellence. Dr. Geroulis is a member and appointed delegate of the A.A.C.S. to the nation's American Medical Association, where he is involved in policy-making. Dr. Geroulis is board certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, which exclusively examines and certifies in the specialty field of cosmetic surgery. He is also a member of the organization's Board of Examiners and was recently appointed A.A.C.S Fellow and Trustee.
A pioneer in the field of Eyelid Blepharoplasty-Transconjunctival Technique, the Endoscopic Forehead/Brow Lift, S-Face Lift and Liposuction surgery, Dr. Geroulis is the author of scientific articles and educational videos found in the library of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Geroulis has received several awards and honors in his distinguished career. He was awarded the Sandoz Recognition for Innovative Surgery and Continuing Science and the award for the Most Distinguished Greek American in the Field of Medicine. Dr. Geroulis has been recognized and awarded by the Webster Society and the Cosmetic Surgery Foundation for his breakthrough contributions in the field of cosmetic surgery.
His surgical techniques and advancements have been featured in many interviews in US media outlets, such as CNN Headlines News, ABC-TV, CBS-TV, NBC-TV, WGN-TV, Comcast Channel 19 and CLTV, Chicago's cable news channel. He has appeared in local, national and international print media, including Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, Bazaar, Marie Claire, Redbook, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Magazine, North Shore Magazine and Crain's Chicago Business. Dr. Geroulis is also listed in the National Registry of Who's Who.
Dr. Geroulis has been involved in many local, organizational and civic activities. He was past board member and trustee for National Louis University in Wilmette, a governing member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and has been on the President's Council of the Illinois Institute of Technology. Today, he is advisor to the Peer Review for the Illinois State Medical Insurance Exchange.
